Course Details

In this video presentation Professor Chris Maher, one of the authors of The Lancet Low Back Pain Series published in March 2018, discusses the changes in recommended practices to offer high-value, evidence-based care in the management of acute and chronic low back pain, and some of the challenges that persist. He discusses how these changes have shaped a stepped approach to the treatment of low back pain, and finishes the presentation with a summary of the efforts necessary to improve the delivery of low back pain care.

Chris Maher is a physiotherapist, recognised internationally for his research in the low back pain field. He is Professor in Sydney School of Public Health and founding Director of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health. He is an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapy and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. Chis was on the steering committee for the 2018 Lancet Low Back Pain Series.
