Psychologist

Patrick Partington

Pat Partington is a psychologist who has spent 25 years working in the field of exercise rehabilitation from both physical and psychological perspectives. After realising that even the best rehabilitation programmes are ineffective at restoring a patient's health if they do not stick to it, he sought answers in the fields of psychology and sociology. He completed a PhD in the study of exercise adherence to tackle this problem. In addition, he qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and hypnotherapy. Pat is the founder of Training Great Minds which provides psychological skills training for clinicians and patients and, for more than ten years, he has combined his specialist training to improve patients' mental wellbeing alongside their physical health. He has done so by using CBT and hypnotherapy for sufferers of chronic pain, anxiety and depression. His dedication to providing practical help to those working in manual therapy and exercise medicine has been rewarded with three Student-Led Teaching Awards (SLTAs) for scholarly development, practitioner development and professional development.
