Summary and Learning Outcomes

Summary
This 1.5 hour module provides a deep overview of several important topics with respect to concussions, which are important for chiropractors to understand, including: concussion forces and biomechanics, pathophysiology, concussion testing, acute concussion evaluations and management, return to school, work, and sport protocols, as well as the causes and treatment of persistent and complex concussion symptoms.


Learning Outcomes:

After this module, learners will:

1) Have a stronger understanding of concussion biomechanics and pathophysiology including the forces required and what happens inside the brain during a concussion injury

2) Be able to apply concussion assessment techniques as well as return to activity progressions for school, work, and sport.

3) Gain a strong understanding of the drivers of persistent concussion symptoms and why some patients don’t recover as expected

4) Learn the 3-step system for assessing all potential symptom drivers in patients with persistent symptoms to help guide treatment and rehabilitation for this condition

Cameron Marshall

Doctor of Chiropractic and sports injury specialist who holds a Fellowship through the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences in Canada. Dr. Marshall’s primary research and clinic practice focuses on evidence-based treatment and management of concussion and post-concussion syndrome. Dr. Marshall has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed scientific articles with respect to concussion and has been a keynote speaker at several leading concussion conferences and continuing education seminars.
